its supposed to be earth hour right now. 8 - 9 i think. turn off all your lights and electricity. save energy. the earth needs it. lose productivity. economic downturn. if that doesn't happen, then people really could just survive with this minimal energy use. but we still use a lot.

lol. it's been like 3 albums and 1 minialbum since ayumi's last "ayu-mi-x" release. and finally it has been released! as a double release. two versions. i really miss when ayumi used to have so much money and be rich and would release a billion remix albums after each normal album. too bad her popularity has gone down so much that it took so long for the next album with bad techno. really, why did she have to do this. it's not even good. she must be failing so bad, that her new single cover is a picture of her topless again. well, covered up. but it's like her second album with topless covered with hair. it sells. she must be desperate.

bubble fiction boom or bust! what a lol movie. about economic bubbles in japan. and everyone explodes! go watch it.

cousin vs. external harddrive

HEY GUYS. TRYPTOPHAN AMINO ACID FROM TURKEY DOESN'T CAUSE YOU TO BE SLEEPY. tryptophan is a sedative, but it's not enough in turkey. everything has tryptophan, also. average serving of chicken or beef has the same amount of tryptophan as turkey. milk and beans have it too. and tryptophan only works when empty stomach, which can't happen since turkey is being eaten. so too bad. you all fail.

(08:44:07 PM) if33150w45t3d:
1. It uses psychological coercion to recruit, indoctrinate and retain its members
2. It forms an elitist totalitarian society
3. Its founder leader is self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable and has charisma
4. It believes 'the end justifies the means' in order to solicit funds, recruit people
5. Its wealth does not benefit its members or society

so i found on middle school website all the individual websites for the teachers. and so i was looking at all the old teachers i had. and it's weird that one of the physical ed teachers i did not have also teaches math. apparently minored in math. which is odd. smelly, sweaty math.

lol "chopstick gene". the gene for blue eyes is common in people who are bad at using chopsticks. maybe it is because the chopstick skill is also determined by the gene for blue eyes. too bad thats wrong. because it just happens that blue eyes and chopstick incompetence correlate with non-oriental origin for a blindingly obvious non-genetic reason called culture. so silly.

AT&T internet is ridiculous. makes me install all these self-support tools and stuff! i don't like stupid stuff on my computer so i uninstalled it. then a few days later. aka today. the internet doesn't work anymore! so i'm like omg could it be self-support tool!? need it to stay online? doesn't make any sense. so i'm looking in the router and dsl and stuff. and then i realize that even though i uninstalled the self-support tool, its still in the startup. so now i don't know how to kill it off. so i took it off the startup. and restarted and suddenly internet works! which doesn't make any sense. AT&T's own self-support tool is keeping itself off the internet. but i guess that is how things work.

"my finger hurts. i'm losing so much blood."
"now you know what it's like to be a girl during menstruation."

can't type.

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

i was moving rocks in the yard today. and then one was too heavy, so my finger is now gone, completely crushed. nothing remains. bleeding everywhere. it hurts kind of. but what is annoying is that it is on my right hand! and its an index finger. so i can't type well. can't write well. can't eat well!. i'm going to die. fingers are so important.

"TATA binding protein" gets shortened to TBP. "TBP-associated factor" shortens to TAF. shorten and shorten. make lots of long phrases. make long phrases with shortened. then shorten them some more. and such is life.

just kidding guys! i'm not really dead or missing! still alive and well. with lots of work to do. synthesizing stuff. predicting phenotypes. and trying to understand quantum mechanics well enough to present on it! what a bad spring break.

it is so weird that colors are often seen as a circle. there are opposite sides. opposite of yellow is purple. and stuff like that. colors blend into each other. red red red and then it shifts into purple. but it doesn't make any sense because electromagnetic spectrum is a straight line. moving more and more red suddenly because invisible infrared. more and more purple and it is ultraviolet. but somehow we can blend those two together and form a circle in this line. how does 400 nm of wavelength suddenly become 750 nm!? sigh!

people always start things and get obsessed with them for a while and then it dies down. i think same thing is happening here. it used to be so fun making movies and drawings and silly webpages and being creative. then i realized that all that was pretty useless. i could never do anything from making movies. so that slowly died. i lost interest in art, because it is annoying. so the only thing left for me to do on this website was to blog. so blog i did, for years and years. pretty dedicated, i guess. but now, i think it is over. there's nothing really to say anymore. i don't have an opinion about things anymore. everything is fine. with nothing to be against, there's nothing to complain, nothing to write. so i guess, it's about time to finish this.

maybe. we'll see how i feel tomorrow.

in every single biology book that goes over dna, it always talks about watson and crick and the others. and then it always says something about rosalind franklin, and how she was dead already when the nobel prize was awarded to watson, crick, and the other guy. EVERYTIME! post-humous nobel prizes are not awarded.

Famed geneticist creating life form that turns CO2 to fuel

Thu Feb 28, 3:57 PM ET

MONTEREY, California (AFP) - A scientist who mapped his genome and the genetic diversity of the oceans said Thursday he is creating a life form that feeds on climate-ruining carbon dioxide to produce fuel.

Geneticist Craig Venter disclosed his potentially world-changing "fourth-generation fuel" project at an elite Technology, Entertainment and Design conference in Monterey, California.

"We have modest goals of replacing the whole petrochemical industry and becoming a major source of energy," Venter told an audience that included global warming fighter Al Gore and Google co-founder Larry Page.

"We think we will have fourth-generation fuels in about 18 months, with CO2 as the fuel stock."

Simple organisms can be genetically re-engineered to produce vaccines or octane-based fuels as waste, according to Venter.

Biofuel alternatives to oil are third-generation. The next step is life forms that feed on CO2 and give off fuel such as methane gas as waste, according to Venter.

"We have 20 million genes which I call the design components of the future," Venter said. "We are limited here only by our imagination."

His team is using synthetic chromosomes to modify organisms that already exist, not making new life, he said. Organisms already exist that produce octane, but not in amounts needed to be a fuel supply.

"If they could produce things on the scale we need, this would be a methane planet," Venter said. "The scale is what is critical; which is why we need to genetically design them."

The genetics of octane-producing organisms can be tinkered with to increase the amount of CO2 they eat and octane they excrete, according to Venter.

The limiting part of the equation isn't designing an organism, it's the difficulty of extracting high concentrations of CO2 from the air to feed the organisms, the scientist said in answer to a question from Page.

Scientists put "suicide genes" into their living creations so that if they escape the lab, they can be triggered to kill themselves.

Venter said he is also working on organisms that make vaccines for the flu and other illnesses.

"We will see an exponential change in the pace of the sophistication of organisms and what they can do," Venter said.

"We are a ways away from designing people. Our goal is just to make sure they survive long enough to do that."

and then we'll run out of CO2 in the atmosphere and all the trees will die!

so theres a new movie called "forbidden kingdom" or something. and it has jackie chan and jet li. which sounds all cool! because they fight and it's like omg who will win. too bad it's a horrible movie because it's in english. and there's a random white guy in it. but it's quite interesting. i guess.

i still don't know if decimals smaller than 1 are singular or plural. sometimes they both sound okay. but that's probably because my grammar sucks. i am asian. i don't know any other language, except the language of number. plural. sigh.
